About Big Island Bees Big Island Bees is a family run business. The family has been keeping bees commercially for 4 generations and started the businesss in Hawaii in 1971. Each generation has passed on immense, old-world knowledge of bees and how to care for them. While maintaining their artisan standards, the apiary has grown from just a few hives to over 3,000. They are one of the largest organic honey producers in the country. The farm is located near beautiful Kealakekua Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii. The bees move seasonally all over the island, following the honey flow. The bees forage Lehua blossoms on the slopes of Mauna Loa, Wilelaiki blossoms on the coast of Kohala and Macadamia blossoms in the nut orchards of Kau and Hilo. Organic 'Ohi'a Lehua Blossom Honey With a distinctive floral nose this thick honey has a light, gentle flavor perfect for spreading on toast, pairing with blue-cheese, or mixing with green tea. Macadamia Nut Blossom Honey This honey is sweet and nutty, with a big, complex aroma. Great with pancakes or waffles, fruit, or mixed in herbal tea. Wilelaiki Blossom Honey Certified 100% Organic A robust honey with subtle smokiness and a peppery finish, a connoisseur's delight. Marvelous for pairing with vegetables and cheeses.
